The Three Chimpanzees: Conflict Resolution in Chimpanzees, Bonobos and Humans Nina Jablonksi Primates and, particularly, the apes, are long-lived animals who have few offspring and who display slow rates of physical and social development. These facts have major ramifications for the evolution of social organization and behavior. One of the most important features of their social organization and behavior is control of aggression, because uncontrolled aggression leading to serious injury or death would quickly result in decline in species' numbers and extinction. In this lecture, the mitigation and control of aggression in common chimpanzees, bonobos and humans will be explored.
