			The Workplace Project

This week's meeting will be a discussion of the Workplace Project, a
three-year research effort within the Work Practice and Technology
Area of Xerox PARC.  The project involves an intensive field study of
the relation of facilities design to work organization at a mid-size
U.S. airport.  The research team is a multidisciplinary collaboration
made up of anthropologists, architects, and computer scientists.  At
this meeting, I'll describe the project's design, development, and
recent directions, with an emphasis on the relation of theoretical
goals to research methods.
