Research Interests

I have written several papers on the form, structure and interpretation of various constructions in Japanese and Korean. I have also written on voice and clause structure in the Philippine languages. My interest in Scandinavian syntax has a focus on clause-structure and the expression of tense and finiteness. In 2001 I finished the book Structure, Alignment and Optimality in Swedish, and in the same year I edited the volume of papers Formal and Empirical Issues in Optimality-Theoretic Syntax.
With Orhan Orgun of U.C. Davis, I edited the Steven G. Lapointe memorial volume Morphology and the Web of Grammar (2005).
